Shaykh Suhaib Webb was born in 1972 in the town of Oklahoma to Christian parents. After losing interest in religion altogether and becoming a successful Hip-Hop DJ, he eventually encountered Islam through Muslim contacts in the music industry. After a few years of thought and research, he accepted Islam in 1992 at the age of 20.
Shaykh Suhaib holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education after study at the University of Central Oklahoma. His studies in Islam started in his home city with scholars from the country of Senegal, and his excellence would eventually lead to him being appointed to the post of Imam at The Islamic Society of Greater Oklahoma City. He also taught at the Mercy School, an Islamic K-12 school in Oklahoma City. In 2004 he set out with his family to Cairo, Egypt to begin more focused studies at Al-Azhar University in the College of Shariah.
He is a regular lecturer in the English speaking world and is also one of the most popular native-born American scholars. He currently resides in the Silicon Valley of the San Francisco Bay.
