Is Islam an Arab Religion?

Islam is not an Arab religion. That is, Arabs are not the only people who are Muslims. In fact, Arabs make up far less of the world’s population of Muslims. The country with the largest Muslim population is Indonesia with an estimated population of 182,570,000. [Also have a look at: http://www.aneki.com/muslim.html]

Muslims are found in just about every part of the globe on all seven continents. And Arabs only make up a very small percentage of that population.

It is true that Islam did originate in the Arabian Peninsula. But the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad, was sent to all of humanity until the Judgment Day. The Holy Koran says,

“And We have not sent you [Muhammad] but as a mercy to all the worlds.” Koran 21: 107

It also says,

“And We have not sent you [Muhammad] but as a universal (Messenger) to men, giving them good tidings and warning (them against sin).”

Koran 34: 28

And Muhammad(saws) said his self,

“Prophets were sent to their people specifically. But I have been sent to men in their entirety.”

Sahih Al-Bukhaari: Kitab al-Tayammum, Hadith #335
